Rockford fostage is one of the hardest hitting subs these days. MAYBE you're set up was wrong. All I know is what I heard.
To all of you out there who still think that JL, MTX, and Diamond Audio blow out Rockord Fosgate, THINK AGAIN! I've been around car audio for about 4 years now and I've pretty much heard everything that there is to hear. I've been to sound competitions both private and public and it is true that JL and all those other popular and expensive companies are great when it comes to sound quality and loudness, but there is no possible way that a 12W7 is louder than a POWER STAGE 2 12 inch sub from Rockford when either woofer is in its own performance optimizing enclosure! Nope. There is no way. The JL audio W7 may be considered "perfect" by some people, but it has its flaws. In competitions the w7 is setup in the most perfect setups and yet still persists in missing notes and when you crank it up too high, guess what! BOOM! it almost always blows under its own cheaply built 2 dollar cone (fact). On the other hand, you can play this here T212D4 at absurdly loud volumes and it only gets louder and louder as you turn the volume nob where as the W7 will start to sound fluttery and its so called "Perfect Sound Quality" goes right out the window of your car. If you want powerful, destructive bass, don't be swayed to the overrated JLs or the highly acclaimed MTX, because you have yet to hear Rockford's Woofer KINGS and monsters of the TEAM RF series. These are over twice the price of any W7 with the Team RF 12in. priced at over 2300 US dollars and worth every penny. JL was right, you get what you pay for!
I just got mine installed yesterday. I have 2 of these exact subs being pushed by a Rockford 20001bd amp, so i have plenty of power........WHOLY HELL THESE THINGS ARE LOUD!!!! i dont know what the hell that guy is talking about with getting more treble, his setup mustve been wrong.. i turned em about 55% of the way up last night without earplugs in, OUH! these subs get physical. 2 of the loudest woofers ive ever heard. although, i got mine from the dealer for actually less than they are here, but still worth the $ nonetheless. i reccomend these to anyone who wants to rape their ears with mind blowing bass. JL, MTX, Kicker, dont compare, i dont care what anyone says, to me, Rockfords are some of the hardest hitters out there. especially there higher end subs such as these, buy these if you have the money and want a lot of bass
whoever thinks that the T2 is not worth buying for any reason is wrong. i have just one in a vented box ran to a sony 1600 watt amp and this thing can be heard from a long ways away. but not only that but the bass is so deep and sounds so good that i dont even know how you could even say that this sub is better for treble. everyone from around the surrounding towns all want to buy this sub from me they know whats up, so if you wanna put your so called sweet JL MTX or whatever sub or subs you got, anyone with a T2 that is in love with this sub would go up in a comp any day
I wrote a review for this once before(look above) after having them in my car for a lil over a month now i have more comments, these things are still louder than hell, still cant turn em up even close to pushin em without hurting my ears. The only complaint i have now(reason for 9/10 on overall) is the weight, i used to get ~24mpg in city, now i get ~14mpg, and the handling of my grand prix has deminished a bit, the subs are in a 2.25 cuft box. The reason why Rockford doesnt put specifications for a sealed box volume is that its not even reccommended that you put these in a sealed box at all. These things are too powerful and push too much air, they reccomend a ported box so you dont destroy the woofer. they come from the factory broken in, so after a couple hours of running them, i turned em up a bit, took every bit of it, no distortion, nothin. so, if you have the room, and the money, and dont care about a bit of weight in your car, go for it, theyre worth it. If you have an suv, or hatchback, look forward to hitting towards 150dB's or above with 2 of these. In my sealed trunk design grand prix, i hit 148.6dB's on the meter(2 of these with a Rockford T20001bd amp and 25 farad cap), lol who knows, maybe if i put a second alternator in there i could hit 149dB's. if your into comps every month and dont mind the weight, these are for you, nothing hits like these, I on the other hand are considering selling them, as it has taken the performance out of my performance car. As far as all you JL lovers out there, I dont see what you see, there are woofers out there that can do the same thing if the box is built right and theyre not worth the money. Rockfords will take any JL woofer any day in a comp, hands down, yea JL is supposedly the "SQ sub", but do SQ subs win you SPL comps??? unless of course you put like 8-12 of them in there, but i dont see the point to that, 4 BIG woofers would accomplish the same thing. youd need atleast 3 W7's to push the kind of SPL that Rockfords can hit. take it as you wish, those are my thoughts.
All I can say is that people who have more than one of these puppies are freakin insane!!! I have one of these subs getting pushed by an MTX 81000D 1000 Watts RMS @ 2 ohms, and holey crap I get a headache after 5 min. Crazy thing is, that it barley moves! I think my car would blow apart if I actually pushed it to it's max, and the best part is the reaction I get from people when I open my trunk and they see this bad boy.
all i have to say is anybody that likes to wakeup the neighborhood and shake the ground these subs are for you . i have 2 and nobody can match up to me.
I bought one of these about a year ago and it really does fill the car with sound. I have it hooked up to an alpine mrd m1001 at 2 ohms. Some of the drawbacks are the tremendous weight and required box size. I was unable to find any boxes prebuilt around 2 cubic feet or so that the sub required. I managed to build a box alright, but it could pose a problem for some. Since the sub weighs in close to 50 pounds I felt uncomfortable with the wood screws that rockford provided and went out to find some nuts and bolts instead. After following the manual for the box dimensions I noticed a huge drop off around 80 hz, and it left a small hole in my sound spectrum. But, with only one of these subs I can still overpower most anybody's system. The sub is very expensive and the whole setup cost about 800-1000 dollars; including the sub, the box materials, the amp, and wiring kit. I know that for about half the money I could get about %75 of the sound. I have been pleased though since I save a bit of space in my trunk and I get plenty of power. The other posts about their tremendous power don't lie. Sometimes I wish I had 2 of these just so I could annoy more people I drive by, but for the sake of my ears, wallet, and trunk I've stuck with 1. This is NOT the sub you want to buy if you want the best sound for the buck. But, if money is no matter, than go for the gusto and put a couple of these in the trunk and let the whole neighborhood know you're broke as hell.
I have two of these in the back of my yukon inside of a monster bass pro box. All i got is a jl audio 500/1 mono block pushin them and my tailgate windshield is coming off the track. Both windows in the back seat are starting to scrape metal because they are coming off the track as well. If you wanna be the loudest out there..these bad boys...
I have two of these in my 97 Jeep Wrangler with hardtop powered by a R.F T2000bd and they pound. I have had problems with my stinger 12 f cap and getting enough power to the 2000.Today Audiowave is putting in 1 stinger 800 batt.and 2 1700's. I am also putting in a T3000bd(removing the T2000) and a T8004 and for mids with two R.F.50 farad caps. I will update this when I get my Jeep back.until then, TURN IT UP!!!! it ,dahinkel
I have one t212 in the back of my '06 f-150, and it makes my truck shake. But it has created in addiction because I am in the process of upgrading to two of these woofers. The Bass I get from my woofer drowns out my MB Quartz Component speakers. For the money your paying your getting a hell of a sub. Don't be afraid to buy this sub, it WON'T let you down.*****
Got four of these T2 12ves in the bed of my 06 F-150 Lariat Supercab. I made me a custom in-bed box for all 4, got a T40001bd on em. Had to have 2 250 amp alts installed to keep the amp juiced along with 4 Kinetic Batteries and 4 RF 1 Farad caps. LOUD AS HELL! CLEAN AND CLEAR BASS LIKE U WOULD NOT BELIEVE! REAL COMPETITION CLASS SUB. NO NEWBIE SHOULD OWN THIS! WILL murder any 4 sub combo out there. U can go ahead and repackage your old stuff and get these Power subs. Stop lying to yourself JL owners. We know U try to talk down on brands like RF because u realized U got ripped off and overpaid for your subs and you are stuck with that funny 3ohm or 2x1.5ohm impedance so now you have to use JLs overpriced amps to power em cuz they use that 1-4ohm always 1000rms technology u value so much. Sorry. But theres a new bad boy in town. RF T2 baby!
Let me start by saying I have owned all sizes in car speakers since I started learning about and installing my own stereos in 1990. I decided to get back into car audio in 2007 so I purchased a eclipse 3100, monster cable rcas, 12 gauge speaker wire. 4 gauge power and ground wires, power acostic 5.25 components, tang 5.25 subs check these out on parts express web site.soundstream reference ,1000sx, 350sx,and 1 rockford T2 12 inch sub. This is the most expensive sub I have bought and I am using Fosgate box plans from fosgate The box is 30/15.25/15.25 and it is a vented box. I am happy with the bass and I still feel like I need a cap or mini battery and maybe some larger power wire. I am running the sub in 2ohm the amp is rated for 1000 watts into 2om. This is a Heavy sub and reqires a large box these are the only negatives.
these subs sound good but for all you out there that wanna really here the bass ur supposed to you should really be looking ino buying a 12 or 15 inch khol audio. these subs will blow any other sub youve heard out of the water. i have had 4 15inch eclipse subs and two of the khol 12s hits harder and lower then all four of them. loudest subs ive ever heard in my life.... get some and hear it for yourself
had this hooked u to a Slash 1000/1v2 in a Yukon. slotted box built to RF specs. it was decent but overrated. traded out to a 12W7 in a sealed box and the quality of sound really improved.
Hey all you brothers of the almighty RF. Im really pleased with the reviews i have read so far. Myself I have been a loyal owner and fan of the PUNCH since the ol 45s and 75s that would push 4 15s. Now i own 2 t212 dvc. I also bought the t10001db. I had paid for a box to be built at cartoys. having a pair of hx2s i new how important it is to have the proper enclosures.we tuned the box to hit VERY hard and VERY low. I used ZERO gauge wiring (YES ZERO)for my sub ampw dont get me wrong jl makes a good product,(to put in my door). The 6.5 component sys. in front and 4x6 plates in the rear powerde by an alpine 400w really compliments the thunder from my back seat. Im pushing all this through an all k-wood system. K-wood head unit @ k-wood digital eq w/ a k-wood 10 disc chngr. I tell you what bro when you come to h-town bring your shiznit but make it clean @ clear or dont bother wastin your time and mine !
I was told by my friend that the W7 has always been THE best and no sub out there could sound louder or as good with a given RMS wattage, so I took his word for it and I bought one 12W7 with a JL 1000/1v2 amp for my 04 Suburban. Spent about $750 on the sub alone and $799 for the amp. It was great, but It wasn't any louder and didn't sound significantly better than most premium subs so I wasn't surprised or impressed by it. A few weeks later I saw this 12" RF T2 sub in a caraudio shop near my house and loved the cosmetics. It looked beefier than my 12W7. I bought it like two months later for $515($235 less), I looked up box specs for it and made it a custom slotport box and hooked it up to my JL 1000/1v2. It sounded just as good as my 12W7 and its musical attack speed was fast, but its the loudness that got me. This thing is a murder weapon! Its freakin loud and sounds great. I hadn't been impressed by many subs as of late, but this thing hit a sweet spot. ALL music plays REAL loud but also REAL nice. ALL MUSIC. Real punchy and tight and its lows are deep and loud. Now my friend doesn't want a JLW7 anymore. This site has great pricing on the T2 so Im gonna send him your way OCS...lol
All I can say is DAMN!! I have had JL's and most other kinds of speaker set-ups with various amps pushing them but the T2 even at being used is the hardest hitting sub I have ever had in my car. Before I was hooked on JL. I had 2 12in. w0's with a punch 360 pushin them hitting bout 131 in comp. But I put one of the T2's 12in. in my car with a California 1200 on them. It's hittin so HARD that any doubt that I had about JL's are gone. I just enjoy aggrevating the hell outta the other people who swear by their almighty JL's.
They alright but i hit the same number on dbs 138.0 He had 3 12 T3, I had one 12 Treo SSX hit the same number.
i hit 147.6db with 1 T2 12 on 1200watts in my hatch. box was ported and tuned for 60hz
THIS SUBWOOFER IS GOOD BUT NOT THAT GOOD FIRST THE MONEY VALUE IS TOO MUCH AND ITS ONLY 2000 WATTS. I HAVE 2 ALPHASONIK MAYHEMS THAT HIT 179.4DBS IN MY TRUCK. THE ALPHAS ARE MORE CHEAP TOO.
Well I have 2 of these and a 2000 watt power series Rockford mono block and a 2 farad cap pushing them and the have done alot of damage to my car and to other peoples systems. I can honestly say nobody has a beter system than me on Fort Hood! lol
I'm looking to buy one of these bad boys I got a power bd1000a1 chrome edition (old skool) but I heard they are made for ported boxes. and I am sick of the ported box I want sealed its deeper and I'm lovin the deep bass you get out of it.. so has anyone ever put one of these in a sealed box? how does it sound or should I go with something else???
To Derek from st. George these subs are spl subs they will blow in a sealed box and they are not meant to play for deep bass just loud if your gonna spend the money and want deep bass go with the MTX line or Boston acoustic spg555 the Rockford P3 15s hit deep and work in a sealed box also.
imma install 4 of these in mah 96 ford ranger, wit cab. 1 8in p2's and 3 6.5" t1's on each door wit another 6.5" t1 on the A-Pillar. a full rockford fosgate system. dont noe wat they sound like but will find out. and im not crazy, i know what im doin.
Hey my fellow radio fanatics. I recently bought me ANOTHER set of T212s. Like an idiot i thought i was done with the jams but its in your blood!!! OK picture this , rollin down your block with my ALPINE 202 putn power to my (3) T212s from my T40001 , then just when you thought it was over the T1000 pushn my T162s in the door and T1693s in the rear just blow your hat off your ol bald-ass head! Grow out of it ? (no) Just make more money now so i can buy the top of the line shit now and make these punks turn and look at the ol man !
Hey IF your box is custom built( which is the ONLY way to go) where they tune it to a lower frequency like 34htz like mine then you will never know what you are TRULEY missing!!! Guys you spent this much money on a quality sub now do it justice by doin it right. You will never go back to pre-fab boxes again . for one this sub will destroy a cheap box and piss you off . the specs in the manuall suck! Get it custom built and its like night and day ( no comparison)!!!
I have 1 t2 15.2 in my truck and I have a rockford fosgate t2500.1 amp pushing it. I also have t600.4 amp pushing my hertz milli mlk1 components also pushing 2 sets of hertz power series 6/5 speakers as well. I have a alpine 9855 head unit and 0 guage wires going to amps plus I have a big red top stinger battery and yellow cap deep cycle battery and 220 amp alternator as well. My sub is loud clean and loud it's in a custom box as well but I also had 13.5 w7 and a 15 Orion hcca I think the t2 is like if the w7 and hcca had a child it's loud like hcca and clean like w7. I would love to have 4 15 t2 in my truck but need more power and money.
