Kick Butt Deck Love The USB And Shuffle Play. Great sound Great Deck For The Price!
I bought this CDX-GT420U a couple months ago from Online Car Stereo. I have been a JVC and Kenwood user over the years (for head-units), but this Sony really takes the cake overall!....especially for the price! The tuner comes-in well...the CD player plays all my MP3 and regular CD's without skipping...but the prize goes to the USB port. I always burned CD's to get what I wanted to listen to in the car, but just dragging and dropping my music to my thumb-drive is alot faster and more convenient.. I don't keep tossing away my burnable CD's after I get sick of listening to the same songs too long. One cool things about the USB is...when you turn off the car and remove the thumb-drive from the faceplate, then get back in the car and put the thumb-drive back in, the Sony starts to play right where it was shut off...just like a CD would. The auxiliary input works fine too...but it's one feature I no longer need since there is a USB port available. I have a 2000 Altima, and the car came with the upper-level sound system of the time, and the Sony compliments the speakers completely. The stock speakers are still in great shape due to the older lady who owned it before me, and it's amazing how much better the sound can be just by upgrading your head-unit. The sound is decently loud and the highs are much more clear and pronounced. Just remember... If you want BIG sound...get an amplifier with new speakers and do it right. This Sony is an inexpensive yet delicious upgrade to almost any factory system. Positives - very good sound and great features for the price. The USB feature is great for anyone who wants to have their music be more portable. Negatives - a beep alerts you to remove the faceplate when you turn off the car, and you cannot bypass the beep. After a week with the Sony installed, I almost completely ignored it, and now it doesn't bother me a bit. If you roll your eyes at the Sony-brand like I used to, get this unit and you'll be pretty happy. From a 1-to-10 rating, I give this a much deserved 9.
