Pioneer Premier  DEH-P880PRS

i had an alpine cda9811 in my car before this. it sounded pretty nice but had a lack of tunability. this head unit does sound better and the range of frequencies u can tune is rediculous. u dont need a separate equalizer. this thing does it all. the 5v outputs does sound a lil better than the alpines 4v going to the amps that run my door and dash speakers. i dont have a sub but this thing has the low frequencies (20, 31.5, 50, 80hz) u can increase 6db. would make a subwoofer sound great. the graphics give it that added bling too. overall an awesome head unit for the price. retails for $450 at tweeter. get it here for the price guys. u wont be let down

This HU is nuts! I had a nakamichi and it sounded better than most but the fine tuning you can do with this 880 and the sound quality is so good it will blow you away. MB Quart in doors and kick panals JL audio amps and in dash and subs I'm getting one more for my truck.

This has got to be one of the best head units I have heard. The tunability is amazing. Has as much as the 940 except that the presets sounds (concert, etc.) But I am very pleased with it. Just wished it had 6V preouts.

I love the options. The equalizer is great but I love the option to turn off the internal amplifier. Great for SQ. I too am running Quarts up front, for rear fill, and JL's in the trunk with ppi's pushing them all. My only complaint is I had to install a noise suppressor. I was inducting engine noise that I was not with my previous Alpine. It wasn't the install either guys... all I had to change was the power, ground, constant, and remote turn-on from the old receiver to the new one. Still a good buy though.

This is a great unit. I have always used Pioneer units and this is by far the best on yet(with the exception of the P9). If you are looking for sound quality above all else, look no further. If you are looking for something flashy and colorful like most and could care less about the quality as long everyone hears you a block away, this may not be for you. Currently I'm running a Quart QSD 3-way set up in the front powered by a quart q series amp. For the low end i have an Image Dynamics IDMax also powered with Q series amp. Initially I was using the pioneer 960 until the display died. I'm glad it did b/c the 880 is far superior. The only thing I wish it had was a WMA lossless codec. Overall this is as close to perfection as you can get. To Chad - the noise problem you are having is most likely from a defect in the unit itself, not your power and ground connections. I have had two pioneer units come from the factory this way. Send it back for a replacement.

I had an alpine 9855, just got the p880 and it sounds great. Slightly bassy on the bottom end but with some tweaking you can get it to sound great. The noise problem is a simple fix, al you have to do is ground the output RCA’s from the unit ( i.e wrap a piece of wire around each output and connect it to a ground, preferably on the unit itself ) Even with that little problem it’s a brilliant unit, good clean design and great functionality.

Got this to replace a 4 year Excelon that died on me. At first I was shocked by the amount of bass that was coming through, but a bit of time and tweaking the EQ, crossver points and dB settings and I was set to go! SQ is excellent, EQ options allow fine tuning, the amount of control that you have with this HU in amazing! Just don't expect it to have a little TV or light up like Vegas, it's not this HU's style. However, I wish it came with another backlight option, you can only chose from white and blue. Too bad I have a red lite interior.

This radio has superior quality sound once you adjust everything to your system. Looks clean in the dash, which is what I like about pioneer, and doesn't have a mess of strangely arranged buttons of ugly colors all over the place. It looks like it could have been factory equipment in a luxory vehicle. The two dial buttons makes it far easier than other pioneers because when you chage volume you dont exit out of whatever menue you're in and shows up on the side of the screen, not blocking the whole thing. Cool looking clock too. Would have probably had this unit for a long time if somebody hadn't jacked it out of my truck (don't take a chance, take the dang faceplate off when you leave your car)

Probably the best featured SQ deck that doesn't break the bank. This thing will let you customize the sound to absolute perfection. It also looks as if it came with my car. (Scion tC) If you follow the instructions you will not have any issues with noise or the RCA's. You really need to read the manual with this bad boy, there's tons and tons of settings and some aren't displayed when just cycling through the list of settings.
