just got this headunit. and it ROCKS it is the best stereo ive ever owned! the color screen is awosme!it sounds great with 2 infinty 10's and 4 infinty 6x8s in 2005 Ford F150 extcab. with a cadence amp!
this is a badass deck with excellent features, very user friendly, and the display is great. it make you look like a pimp and sound like one! BBE is awesome too. i have 4 infinity kappa's, 6.5in and 4in, and 2 alpine Type S 6.5in. next in line up is PDX amps or sub and speaker and Type X subs.
great sound quality, great features, stunning graphics but a few drawbacks. cant turn off the LPF for the sub output, and the 5V preamp output it promises isnt achievable except at volume level 61/62, which complicates the entire gain setting and tuning process. overall i am very happy, but if you cant turn the x-over off on your sub amp, you might get some weird slopes.
The features on this product keep me busy and I sell car audio equipment for a living. There are alot of great sound features that pioneer offers with the high pass filter, this has improved the sound of my mid-range speakers and components much better than my last eclipse model I had. For the money the only thing I feel it's missing is being able to read DVD's so that I dont have to go out and buy another attachment besdides the screen. For thirty more dollars I like this over the alpine9857 which is comparable to this one.
I just bought this Head Unit from this site. The display is freakin beautiful with all those different colors and display modes and settings. The 16 band Graphic EQ it has is the best I've ever used and far surpases other Pioneers and Alpines I've used. Don't know what one of the reviews on here is talkin about cuz I metered the preouts and measured a continuous 4.89V at volume 40 all the way up to volume 55. You get like 4.96V at 57-62. I recommend this HU to anyone looking to get a HU that sounds rich and powerful and does EVERYTHING. I think the only thing it can't do is play DVDs. No problem though. Add-ons never hurt anybody!
too bad they discontinued this deck....sounds better than the alpine i replaced. nice graphics, sound, and i like the clean looking all black finish on the front, well designed. the pre-outs are great due to the fact that pioneer will never have anything close to 5V pre-outs for their newer decks... newer headunits will only have 3V so i will not complain like some other people... easy to use 16 band equalizer and worth every penny.
This HU is great for a DVD system,I have a roof(fliptop) mounted 13'DVD montior and have it connected to my 7800 and it's sweet, or it works with headrest montiors.
