One of our website's top-selling car subwoofers, the Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1000F, is an excellent option if you plan to install one in your car. Not only is this a great-sounding subwoofer, but it is also under Kenwood's flagship line, a highly respected brand in the car audio industry.
This 10-inch subwoofer uses a carbon glass fiber honeycomb cone, which makes it highly efficient in producing low tones while giving the durability that is needed for subwoofers to last for a long time, even when pushed to its limits. This material enables the subwoofer to be quick in its response without breaking. The subwoofer also has a rubber surround, giving additional durability and better low-frequency response.
With its unique flat design, you can still install this subwoofer in hard-to-fit areas of your car. It has a cast-aluminum basket, an industry standard for speakers, highly known for its durability and rigidness. It also has a great ventilation design and is highly efficient in keeping the heat down to a minimum.
The subwoofer uses a pair of silver-plated spring terminals as your way for you to connect to your car's amplifier. These terminals are also durable, so you can expect a stable audio connection from your amplifier to the subwoofer. The terminals can accept up to 10 AWG speaker wires.
The subwoofer has a rated power of 250 Watts RMS and 1000 Watts peak power. Its sensitivity is up to 90 dB, so it is loud enough for you to feel the bass you are hoping for in a car subwoofer. Get prepared for some heart-pounding beats, as these subwoofers are always ready to produce the bassy tones that every audiophile is always looking for.

awesome subs with minimal space and especially under truck backseats. kind of expensive but it gives enough boom for good taste in a low space condition.
The subs were very space efficient and sounded wonderful at a low volume but were not powerful enough at a higher volume. While the highs got louder, the subs could not keep up. All that being said, pairing these with a twelve inch could give you the sound quality of the ten and then the hard base of the twelve.
Buy these online and they are a steal! They pound harder than the pioneers - i heard them side by side in the same amp and same box.
I was really really surprised. Ive heard a lot of negative things about shallow/slims subs but i thought id give these a shot. I drive a tiny 83 toyota pickup and i really really squeezed one of these behind the seat hooked up to the Kenwood KAC-8104D 1000w amp. WOW this sub hits with clarity and loudness of most normal tens and some twelves ive heard. If you have to go with shallow mounts, buy this sub you won't regret it, there louder and cleaner than the pioneer and the kicker shallows. Ive only had it for a week now, so i guess the only thing left is to see if it'll hold up. i'll be sure to right another review in a few months.
I've been running one 1000F with bench tested 335 watts in a 0.7 cu ft 3 1/2 inch deep enclosure, behind rear seat in pickup. I was pleasantly surprized by lower than expected roll off point for a shallow sealed 10 inch sub. It starts to roll off slightly around 40-45 hz and rolls off noticably at 35-30. Can't complain at all with the low subbass extension. The efficiency is not 90 SPL probably closer to 86, still quite good for a shallow sub in a small enclosure. This thing doesn't sound like a 12 in a big box, however it produces bass notes acurately and with good definition and depth (except near subsonic frequencies). Sounds good with rap, especially with a litlle bass boost; and really good with metal quick tight and full. I definitely think I got my moneys worth, good shallow 10.
