I never give anything a perfect rating, nothings perfect.For one thing the g-force anelizer serves no audio purpose.And secondly,you better read the manual and carry it in your car for awhile,because this unit has tons of features. Otherwise the tilt and remove face piece works great and doesn't rattle at all,it works perfectly.The display is awsome.Cd player NEVER skips, which is saying a lot in a stiff suspensioned 99Z28. And I love the flash memeory stick feature.Great unit worth the price!
I have been rockin pioneer since I started putting aftermarket decks into my vehicles. This was my first Kenwood and all I can say is this is amazing. It plays scratched cds that my pioneer wouldnt read. The g meter is cool and the 5 volt preouts rock. I have a 4gb usb flash drive plugged in and it rips the musics to the deck in seconds. The display is bright and easy to read. If your wanting a deck that does everything without a lcd display I would strongly recomend this to anyone new or advanced

This radio is worth the hefty price, but 400 isn't that bad considering that other vendors like crutchfield still sell unit over 650 bucks. I am very pleased with my X991. It is a powerful great sounding receiver. It has beautiful displays with rich bright colors. The unit is amazingly user friendly and it allows you to configure it to ones' own liking. It has so many settings to personalise your musical experience that you will never be bored messing with them. It has four lines of detailed text info that makes it very enjoyable to not only hear your sound but to read as much info about that song as possible. The radio itself is very fast and allows you to navigate through settings quickly with out having to wait for it to catch up. You can even upload images and animated wallpapers. The main reason i bought this was because of its USB input. I currently have a Western digital external 320GB hard drive in my glove compartment plugged in meaning i have a heavy duty music collection in my car at all times. It's also very cool how you can rip CD's and store music into its own memory. This radio is stellar and everything a Kenwood fan can expect. I do want to be objective and tell you the 2 minor things that i didn't like about the radio. (1) The radio comes with a flimsy cotton sleeve to store you face plate when removed from the unit. This means that if your faceplate fell and hit the ground it would break because there is no protection. Same thing goes if water or something spilled near it. The flimsy sleeve would be drenched and your radio would be too. Solution: buy a hard cover case on ebay for 10 bucks. Just make sure you get want that the faceplate fits comfortably in. (2) The unit has a small red led light behind that face plate that flashes when it's removed. Unfortunately it is very dim and you barely see it unless your looking for it. So as feature it's cool but too bad they didn't use a brighter LED. My X991 is hooked up to an AudioBahn A1500HCT Amp pushing two Audiobahn 121nch Sub-Woofers and my music never sounded any better.
I have always been a Kenwood fan. I have used there decks for quite some time. Kenwood makes one of the best decks around. From the features, to the detailed display, to the brilliant sound that it produces you can't go wrong. I really like the fact that the unit has 512mb of internal memory so you can store songs from cd's. The deck is customizeable to almost any car. The deck is easy to use once you figure out how and I like the fact that there aren't many buttons on it to make it look sleeker. The only con that i see is the cotton sleeve that it comes with to hold the face. It doesn't provide much in the way of protection. All in all though the X-991 is worth every penny and u get a great deal for it when you buy it from Online Car Stereo.
I just got this radio. I'm in love with it can't beat the price. I only needed help updating the flimware.
I give it a 10 outa 10! cause im geting it for 1 and...rmally a $800$ deck but im getting mine for 380$ So.. and kenwood is the best on deck's. I know this is one of the newest out there and the 5 volt preout's that's a BIG PLUS.! anyone out there that want's a really kooool deck's and VERY hi performance amp's get kenwood...cus they ain't made cheap. if you have the money get this deck cus you will love it.!!!
I bought my unit used, but in excellent condition. The ability to completely tune and manipulate the music is beyond anything else going. The ease of adding on to it is also so easy that you can bet everyone will be copying them. I also added a PHATNOISE MUSIC KEG(made in conjunction with Kenwood) and I really love how I can adjust all my music on it. Having it tell me what is about to be played, and the accompanying text, are a real bonus when I can't take my eyes off the road. The display choices are un-matched by anything in any price range, period! The final kicker is the GMA(graphic motion analyzer) Kenwood built into it. Want to get your 0-60, done. Need your G's through that last tuurn, done. Want to check your acceleration G's, done. This is literally the best car audio receiever I have ever used or owned. If you can find one, used by this point, and it works then buy it. You will not be sorry or dissapointed. Thank you Kenwood!!!
