i have one of these amps pushing 4 pioneer champion series 12's. i have them way under powered but it pushes them good. i built my own vented box it has roughly about 7.5ft of air space and the vent is 3in from the back wall and 3in wide. i hit 141.2 decibels at 35 hertz, it got low like i like it but the decibels just weren't there so im going to get another one of these amps. me and some of my bass head friends were impressed that this sony would push those 12's like that and its doing a good job but i'm definately getting another just to help it out.
I got this amp and it was pushing 2 pioneer 10s and i didnt even run it that hard and it blew in a month and a half. In my book its a piece of shit.
I Had 2 of these push 2 15' MTX tr7515 subwoofers in a vented sledge hammer box in a GMC Jimmy but they blow when i turned the gain past 1/2, i did manage to set of a car alarm 2 blocks away
I had this amp for about 3 months and one day it just cut out. I sent it back to onlinecarstereo and they said that nothing could be done and that i would recieve a credit for less than which i paid for this product. very very very disappointed...
I must be the first person to give this amp a GREAT review. It seems to me that all you guys are popping them because of abuse/misuse. We all know that sony is deff not putting out 900 RMS so dont try and push it to it's max. I've got mine hooked up to a 15" JBL GT01504D and ive managed to break my rear-view mirror. keep in mind my sub is only 300RMS and 1300peak so..... The only thing i do not like about this amp is that once you screw the face back on you lose all access to your gains/wires.
ok so pretty much I bought this amp when it first came out so if anything I have the worst of its kind . I have had this thing for a good 2 years i never put it anything below 2 omh stable its been able to abuse a mtx 7500 to the point of near death(of a years time) and i now its running my two alpine type-r dual 2 ohm subs and it can handle it no problem doesn't shut off doesn't sound bad it actually sounds on par with my friends 1000xd(mtx)
I thought oohh crap its sony. But I tried out to push my 12" kicker comp subs and it slams them hard I couldn't believe it but sony did this one good.
Excelent amp to buy, will push any normal size sub hard, really hard. I have it hoocked up to a Kicker L7 in the trunk of my pontiac G5. Shakes the whole car to pices with out all of the dynamat I put in there. And although the cover is a pain sometimes it does protect the wires from being touched at the outputs. Recomend it to anyone.
I actually bought this amp in the 1200 watt version from best buy in 2004. Since then I've been through a set of audiobahns, and memphis audios. Six years later its still going strong. Got it on a 15" L7 in my Charger now. I would reccomend it to anyone.
Good amp if your on a budget should push 2 12's no problem. I have last years model xm gtr 9001 or something like that its the same 900w @ 2 ohm. Not the most power doesn't have the best EQ but I have run it with max gain and bass boost on full with the filters wide open like a idiot but it never ever cut out shut down or even get warm what more could you ask for at this price.
This amp is just overall great. Have one hooked up in my 04 mustang to a single 4 ohm L5 Kicker and and another to a set of 2 L5 Kickers w/ final impedance of 2ohms in my 99 mustang and they both hit hard as f#@k!can be heard blocks away.
Overall a good amp. Sound quality is good, never any distortion. Pushing two twelves that handle a total of 760 rms at wired to 2 ohms and bumps pretty hard... Amp never over extends the subs, but my lights dim pretty bad so I think its not getting enough power. Good amp, I think it would be great if I upgraded my electrical system.
Just to put it out there, this amp can handle a 1ohm load all day every day. I use this amp for competitions believe it or not and have won some serious events. I would recomend an upgrade of a larger battery and or alt as well. this amp can produce some real power. Go sony!!! 143.4db with this amp and 2 12's 600rms each
