Great sub! But it seems alpine changed this type r up than the previous model but it still sounds good. I have 1 of em running at 4ohm in a 1.75 ported box. It is way LOUDER than the previous model and the sq is not as great but it sounds good to me. Then again, i just got it today and it hasnt been broken in yet. So give it a lil time and it will be ready....But overall this is a great product. It is definately LOUD tho! if you are thinking about getting two, u mite wanna have good battery, capacitor or sum cuz they are like 1000 rms a piece.
Great sub sq is not as gud as the last type r but for the price its a gud buy i have 2 n my 09 charger powered by the hifonics brz 2400.1 n a gz obcon box and they slam nothin bad 2 say about this sub and yes they r true 1000watt rms cea compliant check out the specs at alpine-usa i have the speakers wired down 2 1ohm
who ever said the previous type r was better.was smoking something!this has way more sq than the previous!!ands hits harder,look at your amps,hifonics come on man,cheap amps!!aint got time for that!Hifonic crap
I bought this sub thinking it was the best sub for the money. I was correct for about a month until it started clipping and popping. I had this sub powered by a Jl 600V2 amp which was at 2 ohms running 600 true RMS. Shortly after having it for a month and allowing it to break in, it was running hot and eventually started popping and clipping. I had the gain.set at 1/4 up and it still gave out. I have not taken it out of its prefabricated ported box yet to inspect it but I am so disappointed in Alpine. I had 2 15 Orion subs in a ported box with a 1200w Sony Xplode amp and i had 0 issues with that setup.
I have Alpine in my car because I think its quality. I'm only feeding these subs 500w tru RMS's and its good for my setup. BTW the accompaning voice is 4 Beymas and 2 Cresendo's and i'm telling you 2 of these get low.
Excellent. Especially when broken in. Fills my big body vw with superb bass. Hits every note. And I only have one in a vented box!

I have a single Alpine SWR-D4 in a custom ported box driven by an Alpine MRP-M500 amp pushing 500 watts at 2 ohms. This amp and sub setup is awesome, I listen to rap, rock, metal, and country, this sub has great frequency response with anything you throw at it. It hits so hard in my 2004 Chevy Impala, it pretty much gives you a back massage. Definitely a good value for a good price. Will definitely purchase again>

I have 2 of these bad boys in a custom made ported box with a punch BD 1500 on them all I have to say is awesome can not get any better for the money I love this setup!!!!
