Another solid Deck by Alpine. Takes a little bit of messing around with it to get used to the functions, but SQ is good and build quality is always top notch. The only complaints that I have are that it takes a while to scroll through artists and songs with ipod control, and it's not a motorized faceplate like my old one(which I paid about this price for on clearance). This is my second Alpine deck, the last one I had back in 2001, and not a whole lot seems to have changed in that time. I would recommend this cd player.
just got this radio about a week ago still learning it's features but love ithas a nice sound with a nice blue out line light that makes the dash glow I would love to recommend this HU to any who wants somthing a little better then 9885 but not the price of the 9887
Just bought this unit today after a lot of research into all different brands of stereos and installed myself. Even with factory speakers in my truck there is a huge difference in overall sound quality and volume this unit easily pushed my speakers to the limit at less than half-full volume, something my factory head unit could never do. I Have a Zune and wanted to find a HU that had a rear (hidden) Aux-in, and this one is perfect. I already have a zune car charger, but even if you dont, you can still plug a zune cable into the USB port in the rear and charge it from there. The key is to reset the HU right when you install it, then hold F-Setup for a couple seconds, then you can setup the HU to fit your own use. GREAT STEREO If you're in the Haptom Roads area, Discount Audio has this exact unit for the exact price. Mine was 10% off that, display model and I'm even getting a new free faceplate!
bar none....there isn't a head unit out that can touch this for cost/quality/features. if you are running a sub, use the high pass feature to cut the bass out of your drivers!! way more volume, no bass distortion and you get a better sound quality by turning up the 'bass' to bring in more mids without the distortion of your speakers. lets put it this way, i was looking into a four channel amp and components to get what i got from this head unit. i run a 12" L5 pushed by an alpine mono in a single cab full size. this head unit keeps up just fine for mids and highs. its been years since i've bought alpine, used to love 'em and now i remember why.
Just got the unit maybe a week or so ago Love It still learning all of the features. The only thing that I dont like is the remote I wish it had more features Alpine is the best and that's all that's gonna go in my car. Love this unit
I just picked this bad boy up and installed it my self quite easy (NICE) HAD A SONY AND SOMEBODY HELPED THEMSELFS TO IT. THE SOUND IS BY FAR MUCH BETTER, STILL LEARNING HOW TO USE IT, BUT LOVING IT. THX YOU ALPINE.
This is my second Alpine and not my last! The only problem they are so good u don't want to get rid of them! Had to upgrade tho this is every I was needing and some. No motorized face but when hooked up to my iPhone u forget about that. Play's you tube, has USB, and a good eq not a 7 band. This is one of the best headunits out today and I know it will keep me well entertained until my next Alpine!!!
I bought this unit to replace an older Alpine for my F-350 in early December. I liked it so much that I bought the same unit with the bluetooth and Sirius adapters for my wife's Rav 4. We both love the system.
Alpine is the place to B. to lead a team of all alpine this and a type r sub n amp will make any car sound better than perfect!
ive always liked alpine. there was no doubt what i was gonna replace my factory stereo with,in my 04 pontiac gto. its a very nice stereo, and it goes great with my alpine 6x9 3 way" speakers too. to be honest about it though,i just had it installed a week ago,and... Its kinda crazy trying to figure the settings out. a little overwhelming. i pulled out the stereo's handbook and was diappointed. to find out what you really need to know, and how to program it, it also comes with a cd rom that has all the info. would of been much easier if they provided a pictorial dvd,or just put it all in the handbook. its a loaded stereo, but might take some time understanding your way into it.
I've had this for about 4 years. I bought it from Best Buy when a friend of mine worked there. The hook up was easy and seamless operation from the deck's interface made it worth the money. After putting it in my Dakota and the transferring it to my new F-150 it still works great. I'm unfortunately selling my truck to go back to college and the F-150 didn't have a radio when I got it so I'll be parting ways with it. For a budget system this is great, the only two problems I had with it were: 1- Scrolling through the iPod on the dock took forever, I had over 10,000 songs and when I sorted through artists it would take about 45 seconds to spin the knob to search for a song. 45 seconds doesn't sound like much but when you're driving it's a pain. 2- Pushing the volume past 19 would distort the sound, note: I did have 4-channel amp for the speakers and didn't use the factory amp, then I hooked it up into the factory amp to test it and it did the same thing. All in all, If you're looking for a great functioning deck that's not too expensive, this one's for you. ///Alpine for life <3
Possibly one of the best looking CD players IMO. Sound quality matches the looks. The 9886 really makes subs sound deep and punchy. The only con: its very bright at night, which the blackout function somewhat helps, even so it could use a dimmer. Alpine offers the IMprint add-on, but that money is better spent on a separate equalizer. I've had mine since 2009, it is still 100% functional and still sounds great with daily usage since then. Great-sounding classic "volume knob" style head unit. I chose this one over all the rest and I am very picky about cosmetics as well as sound.
