Product Reviews For Alpine PDX-5

  • I used this amp in an installation for my buddy because he didnt have the space to spare for a two or three amp set up. I have always been a little shaky using five channel amps because they usually dont deliver in the sub channel. I was blown away by this amplifier as soon as i opened the box. This thing is tiny. My four channel amp puts out just as much power as the four channels in this thing and is twice as big. The sound quality is unmatched and the power that goes to the sub is enough to power a JL W6. The amp wasnt even struggling. I am probably going to purchase one of these for my vehicle. Highly recommended to anyone who wants a lot of power without giving up any space in their vehicle.

  • Running BA 6.5 components up front, and 6x9's in the back. JL 12W3 in a 1 cu. ft. sealed custom box. Extremely nice footprint making a clean install. Could use more features, but nice and powerful enough sound to make up for it. I wish it put out slightly cleaner bass like the old v12 series, or jl or jbl power series amps, but still worth it for the footprint. Any other 5 channel is at least twice as big and doesn't put out as much on the sub channel. Gets pretty hot in the summer though.

  • put this amp in my 02' Ram and damn it is a work horse the only bad part is the tuning port is behind a hax screw plate a bit annoying but worth the effort for how good this amp is. my system consists of this amp a single 12" Alpine type-S and Infinity Kappa series components custom mounted in fiberglass enclouseres and all in all it was money well spent this amp is the center of the whole thing small powerful and it has yet to even get hot. highly recomend this to any one who wants to keep space but also wants an amp to push the whole system.

  • Have this amp hooked up to BA compents up front and infinity 2 ways in the rear and powering two 10" JL w3's in the trunk. Makes for a clean setup and great sound. Plus onlinecarstereo sells it for much less than anyone. If u want a powerful amp that is perfect in size, and looks great as well then this is your choice.

  • This amp came bench tested from Alpine at 110x4 and 422x1 on the sub at 14.4V. Was going to bridge but didnt need to. Its driving ZR 6.5 components and an Xtant X1044. Have to turn down the sub on the head unit unless I am really jamming and the ZR's are sweet. Going to add rear doors now that I am not bridged up front. Could not be more happy with this amp. Impressed even the installer who has been in the game for years. Tiny size, huge power, unless your going to compete, there is no other amp you need.

  • OMG This amp is amazingly clean and powerful, especially for it's size. I'm running Infinity Kappa's x4 and two 8" subs in the back of my Dodge Dakota and it nails the full audio spectrum @ 102db, clean as a whistle. Thumping and bumping with crisp, clear instruments and vocals. I had to back down the sub because I was getting nauseous from the bass! I've worked as a live sound engineer for twenty years and know what I like and I LOVE this amp!

  • Loved the amp until it blew and gave me the red light of death. Used it for about 4 months, then for no reason, got the solid red light on the right hand side. Sent it back to have it fixed, and they had to replace the entire board (just shell was returned original) so everything on the inside is new. Going have reinstall it this week and keep fingers crossed. I hate it when a good amp goes bad.

  • I tried to buy this amp here, but it turned out to be back ordered. When I called to check on it, they told me it was no longer being produced. So I called Alpine, who told me that it definitely was still being built. They also said that this site is not an authorized dealer and that warranties for equipment bought here would not be honored. Anyway, I ended up buying the separate Alpine units for less money than this one costs. They do the same thing but occupy more space, so that's a consideration. Not sure what to think about OnlineCarStereo, though.

  • This little amp is powerful as hell. It never gets hot or shuts down. I bought it on another website for cheaper. It is worth every penny.

  • Incredible overachieving amp! It's truly incredible what this amp can do in such a small package. I've got mine installed under the passenger seat of a 5-door VW GTI and it fit perfectly. The amp's output is perfect for the vehicle. It's Paired up with and Alpine CDA-117, Rainbow IQ 3way components and an IDQ D4 v3. Sounds incredible! Most balanced system I've ever owned!. Note! Do not run this amp at 2ohms it may be stable but does not sound as good running at 2ohms. At least that's my experience...
