Product Reviews For Soundstream RUB1.2500D

  • This amplifier is incredible. I have two of them in my explorer, each attached to a 12" MTX 9500 subwoofer. At 2 ohms each they are putting out more than 3500 rated watts total. They're worth every penny.

  • This amp is great!! It throws my 2 12" Soundstream SPLX-HX's around like they're nothing. Running with a 2 Farad cap with no dimming on my lights. Extremely efficient for a true 2500 watt amp! I seriously recommend this amp for its quality and Value!!

  • Paired with 2 FI SSD18's at 2 ohms. Headroom to spare and it beats the subs to death, without killing them, of course. Sound quality is excellent, and is a very efficient amp. I am having an issue with the remote knob, sometimes the cord in the back doesn't always make good contact, but that's probably because I don't have the remote screwed down yet. If it was fixed in place, it wouldn't be a problem. Overall a great amp at a good price.

  • I installed this amp in a 4door luxury sedan hooked to a tc sounds lms-r ultra (18inch dual 2ohm v.c. sub with 2000w rms 8000w max power ratings Fs is 19hz and 40+mm xmax )wired @ 1ohm..also has a red top optima(under hood) and a big shuriken battery in the trunk. This combination is literally shaking my clients car to pieces..he calls every other week for the last 6months wanting me to do more to stop all the rattling (car has lots of sound dampening already) this is a great amp for the price. Has all the features you would expect on a sub amp. Anyone thinking big things should consider above mentioned sub and amp combo it's hard to put into words how good this system sounds.. Your ears distort long before the amp and sub do. Amp is at half way on the gain and you'll have an instant headache if you blast this system.. I have 3-15inch mtx tr75's and 1500w rms sub amp in my car(also a luxury sedan) which I play loud daily and doesn't hurt my brain for comparison.

  • Just an update to my previous post. Have since wired my amp down to loads as low as .35 ohms. As long as you can keep the current and voltage going into it, it will play like this all day long. Beware though, this amp draws around 250 amps of current at a 1 ohm load, I cant imagine what kind of current it can pull at .5 or .35. Make sure you upgrade your alternator, wiring, and add a few batteries before attempting to run this much power in your car. Just remember that most alternators are only designed to provide a few amps of head room over what the car uses from the factory. For example, most Honda alternators are typically 55 amps for a base model, and about 70 amps for a power option model. Is that enough current to power this amp? NO! Don't even try it. You will be disappointed if you do. You will find your self asking people, "Why doesnt this sound right? It should hit a lot harder, right?" It's because you are starving the amp for power.... Just adding a second battery wont help. And if you are the kind of person that thinks a #%^# capacitor is going to help your voltage drop, you don't deserve to own this nice of an amp. Caps are like putting a band-aid on a broken bone, it might cover the problem up, but its not doing you any good. As for my amp, it is still trucking right along, and its been run at .5 ohm daily for over a year now, with the electrical and charging system beefed up to keep it happy, of course. The 18's are loving it! My roof and dash, not so much! Seperated my roof skin from the bracing and it sounds like gunshots going off on the low notes now. My dashboard and steering wheel flexes and jumps about an inch, I sure do get some funny looks at stoplights... Sam Carter Custom Sounds NW

  • This amp is pretty stout and you can run it at .5 daily with no issues. The only problem with it is that the amp is a bit over rated (it does closer to 2200-2300w) and it's not very efficient. I did a direct swap between this and an audioque 2200 and the AQ was a little louder and seemed to hit the lows with more authority (the subsonic filter for my 2500 wasn't set incorrectly, but because of the efficiency, the lows are louder on the 2200). Overall the amp isn't bad at all especially if you need something inexpensive that you can run below 1 ohm. But for a daily amp @ 1 ohm I would go with something different. AQ2200, BC2000, SAZ-1500/SAZ-2000, etc.

  • I dont re-call soundstream making any bad amps. Considering their old amps which were under-rated and thats what i loved about it. pretty much getting it at this price is awsome and worth the steal on it. I agree with Sam 100% less than 1-ohm is great which means you dont have to worry about non-sense. Add more power and putting this amp on a atkins power diet is a waste of your money.

  • Amplifiers follow the same laws of electricity that apply to everything else. AMPS x VOLTS = WATTS. For amplifiers the formula for every manufacturer is... 14.4 VOLTS x AMPS x EFFICIENCY % = RMS WATTS I love how someone can say an amp is under or over-rated and GUESS what it is capable of. 99% of all car audio systems are severly underpowered. The amp NEEDS AMPS of current. A 2500w RMS amp needs OVER 200 amps of current to produce that much power. When someone says a smaller amp is louder it is usually because they are deficient in current and the smaller amp needs less and if more efficient in turning the available current into watts. NO STOCK ALTERNATOR CAN PRODUCE OVER 200 AMPS OF CURRENT AT IDLE. If you have a stock alternator, you are just pretending to have big power....period. Power cells help but the power still ultimately comes from the alternator and once the power cells are drained they cannot refill fast enough to keep up on a stock alternator. Soundstream amps are awesome! Anyone who says otherwise is not qualified to give a relevant opinion.

  • I bought this amp because I needed to push 2 t2 12's and rockford 2500 amp is to expensive for me. This amp is great! Even with the amp gain all the way down the bass still hits. I have a Hifonics Brutus 2000 watt amp that doesn't put out as much power as this amp. I have an 170 amp alternator and zero gauge wire everywhere. Also I'm using 4 gauge wire to the speakers. This is a great amp at a great price. Most people just don't supply enough power to there amplifier and think the amp is the problem. Do your homework before trying to use an amplifier this powerful.
