hi, i have this 18" subwoofer in my 97buick regal grand sport, in a 2 cubic ft. box with a 8" round pvc port. with a planet audio 1900w x 1 amp putin 1000rms to the sub!@ 2ohm, this thing for sure hits like a JL w7 if not even more!! i put it in a 2000 blazer with a 3000x 1 planet audio amp and did a 143db with the sub! my car does not have the room for the 5 to 7 cubic ft. box this thing needs to do the max lows but... does hit them still vary well, moves my steering wheel like 2" from up to down lol and my sun roof flex is like 1" same with trunk!! i payed for my sub in a shop around my town and was $500+tax, so if i was u i would buy yours online for the $360+tax and shiping u will save some cash that way!! over all is a beast of a sub and do give it a good review. i think this sub in a suv or truck hits alot hard then in a car. just want i think lol...
Had this woofer on a brz 2400 at 2 ohms so 1700 rms. and solid power too minimal voltage drop. Pounds hard, did a 141 at 32 hrtz so loud to. Good sq in the right box. Scores an 8 tho. Cuz after 6 months the lower suspension ripped in two spots about an inch long right at the cone. Partially my fault as I should have set the subsonic filter at 28 hrtz or do rather than 18. But either way good sub, just the suspension is too small on the lower one.
Picked up a pair of these from a dealer going out of business. They are replacing a pair of sundown sa 15d4 subs that were stolen from me. I am running them off of a dc audio 3.5k which is a bit overkill so the gain setting on the amp will be set with a dmm to the propper voltage to achieve 3200 watts. I have solid electrical with big 3 done in 00 ofc, a 320 amp alt, and 3 xs 2800 batts. I built a unique box for this set up which is 12.5 ft3 net and has a removable port wall that allows for the port to be changed for different tuning. I started out with the 12.5 ft3 box tuned at 33 htz to get an idea of how the sub would perform in the sq department. I broke the subs in on 500watts rms in free air for 24 hrs to get the suspension softened up bolted them in the box usint tnuts set my subsonic filter at 25 htz and the low pass filter at 70. At moderate listening lvls the sub would miss some steps on rapid kick drums like you hear in rock music but other than that it was remarkably accurate. I than proceeded to thrash this sub for the better part of an hr. Even running it at absolute maximum wattage thanks the the DC 3.5k the coils never got smelly and the sub stayed lineier. I must say I was impressed with this budgett 18' woofer. I really cannot say anything bad about it. The subs output is really good for the money as well I would say off the power I was running it was hitting high 140's to 150 on music and was just plain uncomfortable at full tilt with the windows up. All in all I did not pay the price that is on this web site but even for the money OCS is asking for them its a pretty good deal. These subs are not magic and require propper power, box, and amp settings but they will get down and produce clean, clear, and heart pounding bass.
This is not a sub woofer, it is a pro audio woofer. Clean clear bass on most frequencies but mine is 1300watt rms underpowered. Decent woofer worth every penny.
