The Evolution TR systems have stood the test of time by delivering unsurpassed value and performance in their price class. The TR650-CXi system features 6.5-inch (165 mm) woofers with mineral-filled polypropylene cones, long excursion capabilities and stamped steel frames.
The woofer design benefits from JL Audio's vast woofer design experience and advanced modeling systems. The 6.5-inch (165 mm) format is a direct fit in many vehicles. Multiple mounting patterns are provided on the woofer frame for easy installation into most vehicles that accept a 6.5-inch (165 mm) speaker.
Tweeters are coaxially mounted and built with 0.5-inch textile diaphragms that deliver clean response, on and off axis. The small size of the TR tweeter minimizes tweeter protrusion, allowing TR coaxials to fit behind most factory speaker grilles. Woofer grilles are included, each consisting of a black grille tray with satin silver accents and a black steel mesh grille with an electroformed JL Audio logo.

these are what you call JL's entry level speakers. i have them in the rear dash of my 200sx run by a clarion amp. they sound great. crisp highs and good lows with great mids. just gotta tune ur head unit right with ur amp. my friend has the 6 1/2" polk momo's which are about the same price in a store but that is polk's "competition" stuff. the polks do have slightly better low frequency response but i think the jl's could handle a little more power. im going to throw these in the front doors and get some xr components for the rear so i can replace my infinity tweeters. they tend to distort at slightly over moderate volume. hope the jl tweeters r better
I have a pair of these in the sound bar in my '99 wrangler and a pair of the 4 inch tr's in the dash (which are pretty much non-existent) being powered off my Kenwood Excelon and a 10w1 in the back powered by an E6450. I listen to heavy metal (Pantera, Slayer) and the highs are crisp and the mids sounds great too. Extremely sastified with these, highly recommended for a first time buyer who wants great results without spending too much money. Going to buy another pair of these speakers and install them in the doors so I can turn some more heads. Despite the fact that my music is being produced solely by the 6 and a halfs I'm receiving numerous compliments from friends and complete strangers.
I have these in my 01 nissan and pretty much drown out my door speakers that have infinity refereces. i listen to death metal and these give great sound with just my alpine cd player. Time to order another pair soon, a must buy!
