The JBL® W12GTi MkII 12-inch (300mm) subwoofer is nothing short of amazing. Using technology from JBL’s professional audio division, where subwoofers have to fill large venues like stadiums and movie theaters with incredible bass, this subwoofer takes a completely new approach to moving air in a car. It all starts around the patented Differential Drive® Design (US patent no 5,748,760 and other patents pending) motor, which uses light and agile opposed 3-inch (76-millimeter) voice coils in a neodymium magnetic gap to provide completely linear control of cone excursion all the way up to Xmax. Symmetrical Field Geometry™ design ensures linear cone travel and low distortion at virtually any output level.
Surrounding the proprietary motor design are other high-tech materials, including a cast-aluminum frame, Kevlar® cone, a nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) one-piece surround, gold-plated speaker-terminal binding posts, progressive spider and vented pole piece.
This subwoofer handles an amazing 4,000 watts peak power (700 watts RMS), and all of its parts work in harmony to cool the voice coils for maximum output. This sub is one of the best car subwoofers that money can buy. It’s the 12-inch reference standard. Nothing else even comes close.

I can’t believe the price on these subs they are steel. When it comes to real S.Q. these guys are king. They truly can play down to about 17 to 18 Hz. Not too many of the woofers out there can even start to fill the bottom octave like these (even at 3 times the price). I have two of these crossed at 80 Hz/12db per octave which is a perfect spot for the gti components in my ride to really come alive. They seem to really like about 500 to 800W each. The terminals are nice and out of the way for installation (can be a bit of an issue with the drivers with the lager baskets). The only down side to the driver is the enclosure size (vary deep basket). It’s not huge but it is bigger than jls w6 or other small box woofers. Other than that it beats the hell out of all other drivers that I have lessened to in the past 30 years(close to 1000 or so)that’s home and car drivers. If you want to listen to music the way the artist intended you to here it then get these now.
bought 2 of these not on this site. im running 1000 watts to them but they can handle 2000. im doing 143 db with no upgrades. SQ wise these are amazing. SPL wise these are amazing. well worth the money
In a One cubic foot box per chamber these are the cleanest hitting subs i have ever heard. My JBL amp gives my GTI's 800 RMS each and they handle it unbelievably. The JBL power series subs are a tiny bit louder but no where near as clean, trust me the cleanliness of the sub is worth it. You better have a big for these bad boys.
Ok first of all this review is for people just wanting to hear about the sub that dont know much about car audio so there wont be specifics.. a 10 for sound quality doesnt do this sub justice tey need to give it a twenty!!! This sub gets as low as the Fosgate t1's and t2's and hits just as hard!! And ya if your powering this right ur gonna need electrical upgrades.. But back to the sub for SPL its damn good.. had it installed at abcwarehouse and they were knocking all there tools off the walls!!
These subs are incredible, purchased two at full retail from local dealer, he installed them after a Best Buy install(not recommended)and they hit hard. In a 4 door sedan, trunk car I hit a max of 149.9 DB with a matts D3500.1 amp which I have been abusing for over a year now. Better than any other sub I have heard except the matts juggernauts.
these subs are the best subs that I've ever had out of the fifteen years that I have been installing subs in trucks and cars. They perform as well as any other subwoofer of it's type, but much more. for the money that you spend on these subs it is worth it.
I have one 15 w15gti in a ported box sealed facing forward. I have an alpime pdx-m12 running to it. It handles the power well and tbe sound quality is amazing as well as powerful lows. Best sound quality setup I have owned and very loud as well. Nearly breaking 140 on burst and 138.5 on music.
